Amazon Pledges Nearly $40 Billion to Expand AI Data-Center Infrastructure in Spain

The Company is Aggressively Pushing to Expand Its Capabilities to Gain an Edge over AI Rivals

Amazon.com said it would invest 33.7 billion euros ($39.82 billion) through 2035 to bolster its cloud and data-center infrastructure in Spain, the latest commitment from the tech company as it seeks to cash in on unrelenting demand for artificial intelligence. Amazon Web Services, the group’s cloud-computing arm, made the announcement at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, saying it was adding about 18 billion euros to a commitment of 15.7 billion euros that the company announced in 2024.
