he most obvious question when OpenAI officially announced in July that it was launching a search engine was whether it would pose an existential threat to Google. At the time, OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, wrote on X that “We think there is room to make search much better than it is today.” That sentiment is hard to argue with. Google might be the best search engine, but I don’t know anyone who thinks Google is a great overall experience.
