Nvidia and Perplexity Team Up in European AI Push
The Chip Giant and AI Search Startup Are Offering Specialized AI Models for European Users, Aiming to Widen Their Reach in the Region
Nvidia and Perplexity are partnering to offer what they call localized and sovereign artificial intelligence models to their users in Europe, the companies said Wednesday.
The chip titan is working with local European partners, including the French AI firm H Company, to build open-source, sovereign AI models that will be offered through AI search startup Perplexity’s platform.

Meta to Pay Nearly $15 Billion for Scale AI Stake and Startup’s 28-Year-Old CEO
Unusual Structure Will Send the Cash to Scale’s Investors and Boost Meta’s Lagging Artificial Intelligence Efforts
Meta has agreed to take a 49% stake in data labeling firm Scale AI for $14.8 billion, two people familiar with the matter said. The unusual deal will be structured so Meta will send the cash to Scale’s existing shareholders and place the startup’s CEO, Alexandr Wang, in a top position inside Meta, the people said.
The deal, which hasn’t yet been finalized, appears to be a rich one for Scale’s shareholders, with big paydays for some of Scale’s biggest investors such as Accel, Index Ventures, Founders Fund and Greenoaks, as well as current and former employees. Scale shareholders also would maintain their existing holdings in Scale, which will now be valued at $28 billion, including the cash invested, up from $13.8 billion last year.

Amazon Ads Launches New AI-Powered Video Generation Tool
Expect to See More AI-Generated Ads on the Amazon Website Going Forward
On Tuesday, Amazon announced the US release of its AI-powered video generator tool after nine months of beta testing. It also rolled out an updated version of the image generator first announced in 2023.
The video generator, which is now free to use for users with an authenticated Amazon seller account, allows for the creation of eight-second video ads (which the company describes as “low-motion,” presumably meaning that not much is actually moving in frame) from existing product images.

Anthropic releases AI models exclusive to US national security customers
The Company Said the New Models are Already Deployed “By Agencies at the Highest Level of U.S. National Security”
Generative artificial intelligence startup Anthropic PBC today introduced a custom set of new AI models exclusively for U.S. national security customers.
The company said the new models are already deployed “by agencies at the highest level of U.S. national security,” and access is highly restricted to classified environments.
These new models, dubbed Claude Gov, were developed based on feedback from government customers to address real-world operational needs and meet national security requirements while aligning with the company’s commitment to safety.
