Amazon’s AI chatbot Rufus drove sales on Black Friday
Amazon’s AI Chatbot, Rufus, saw a Surge of Adoption on Black Friday, according to New Data Published by Market Intelligence Firm Sensor Tower
In the U.S., Amazon sessions that resulted in a purchase surged 100% on Black Friday compared with the trailing 30 days, while sessions that resulted in a purchase and didn’t include Rufus increased by only 20%. In addition, Amazon saw a 75% day-over-day increase for sessions that included Rufus and resulted in a purchase, compared with just a 35% day-over-day increase for sessions without Rufus that had resulted in a purchase.

Shopify says AI traffic is up 7x since January, AI-driven orders are up 11x

E-commerce software provider Shopify is bullish on AI-powered shopping agents, citing AI as an “incredible tool” to enable more entrepreneurs and calling it the “biggest shift in technology since the internet” during its third-quarter earnings call. The company, which partnered with ChatGPT maker OpenAI in September, reported that traffic from AI tools to its online stores is up 7x since January of this year, and purchases attributed to AI-powered search have increased by 11x.

Walmart partners with OpenAI for ChatGPT shopping feature

Walmart said on Tuesday it was partnering with OpenAI to enable customers and Sam’s Club members to shop directly within ChatGPT, using the AI chatbot’s Instant Checkout feature. The world’s largest retailer is expanding its use of artificial intelligence as companies across sectors adopt the technology to simplify tasks and cut costs.
